Julia "Lili" PAUL
December 11, 1927 - June 16, 2017
It is with much love and great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Lili Paul on Friday, June 16, 2017 in her 90th year. Lili, the only child of Anna and Anthony Katamy, was born in Prince Albert, December 11, 1927. Mom was a dynamic person with an engaging personality, known for her many acts of kindness. Mom had a flair for style and a zest for life. Always the quintessential hostess, she was an accomplished cook. She was a great listener and we marvelled at her amazing memory. Her stories of life and travels with Dad are cherished memories. Mom was ahead of her time in so many ways, a forward thinker, passionate about family, travel, books, literature, art, and music, in particular jazz. Lili was a career woman. Her career started as a secretary for a local law firm. She continued on to work for, and retire from, the Federal Government. During that time, she also opened up her own business which reflected her unique style. Her involvements in community service included the Canadian Cancer Society, The Little Gallery, IODE, Red Cross, Jazz Society, Mendel Gallery, and the Music Festival. Mom was young at heart and had an extraordinary capacity for unconditional love. What mattered most to Mom was family, being Dad's devoted wife, the proud mother of her children, the best mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. She has left a legacy to be admired and we were so fortunate to have her in our lives. Mom was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, her parents, Anna and Anthony Katamy, her parents-in-law, Rose and Mike Paul. She is survived by her five children, Cheryl (Tom) Hislop, Kerry (Inez) Paul, Candice (George) Spearman, George (Doris) Paul, and Robin (Sharon) Paul, her eleven wonderful grandchildren and seven adorable great grandchildren, and extended family Mary Hall, Anne Newberry, Nick Katamay, Josef and Krista Tesar, and their children. Our family would like to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Gordon Surkan, and Pat Chuey and staff at Good Shepherd Villas for their patience, empathy, care and compassion. Mom's wishes for a PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICE are being honoured. The family invites friends to gather at Amy's on Second Restaurant on Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm to share memories and celebrate her life. Those wishing to remember Lili by way of contribution may do so to a charity of their choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
"Our mother's love is the treasury of our childhood; the star that guides our future; the gift of life itself."
As you always said, Mom, "love you always and forever".
